Project Scope
Background
This initially started as a brief exploration into Nokia’s social media offering, but the more I investigated the more opportunities I saw for ways to deliver a more compelling experience to consumers. After visiting different official Nokia Facebook pages across the world I started to gather data about how the offerings compared including statistics and user experiences (tabs and apps).
Social Media Analysis
Using the information gathered I put together an analysis document giving details on the following:
- Outline of the overall current offering in key territories
- Analysis of and short comings on Facebook pages
- Suggested goals of our Facebook offering
- How the goals can be achieved through three key steps (simplifying, education/inspiration, engaging/entertaining)
- Analysis into the Facebook landscape together with case studies on successful brands using Facebook as part of their social offering
This analysis was presented back to key stakeholders, where it was gratefully received due to the nature of my experience in marketing but with the technical knowledge to know how solutions could be delivered.
Facebook Design
I then took this strategy a stage further by designing some mockups of what the custom Facebook pages could look like. Focusing mainly on the services side of the Nokia offering I took key aspects and functionality of the main services and presented this in a clear and concise design making sure to keep within brand guidelines so it would look the same as other Nokia properties.
The designs were also well received so I was keen to press forward to develop these custom Facebook applications ready to be distributed to all country Facebook pages. Unfortunately due to some internal politics and re-structures the project didn’t progress and the pages weren’t developed.
I still believe an organisation like Nokia with the services they have on offer could benefit from a tightly integrated social media and Facebook strategy ensuring content from the services is highlighted on the worlds biggest social network. I’ll keep my fingers crossed…
